Meet Designer Melanie Renee Daily
California fashion designer Melanie Renee Daily started her career in the living room of her San Luis Obispo apartment where she sewed her first line of clothing. She soon learned how to make patterns and shortly thereafter at the age of 20 years old, started Melanie Renee Design. The clothes she designs are flirty, classy, and vibrant—made for the "girl who is spreading her wings and discovering herself." Her clothing designs are inspired by old photographs of her grandmother and designers such as Bestey Johnson, Wenlan, and Coco Chanel.
Melanie's calling in the fashion industry started as a child when she received drawing awards and learned how to sew from her mom at the age of seven years old. As an adolescent, she was altering the clothes she bought to match her sense of style. Her athletic, outdoor lifestyle, including swimming and surfing, influenced the old-fashioned, yet classic beach style seen in the more casual designs. After graduating from high school, Melanie's unique style and keen fashion sense was noticed by a local boutique that offered to carry her self-made designs. After her first line sold out within two weeks at a second local boutique, Melanie decided to make a business out of her clothing design. Through MySpace promotion and traveling to various boutiques throughout California, the demand for Melanie's clothing has skyrocketed.
At the age of 24, Melanie has successfully launched four lines of clothing in forty-four stores worldwide and has aspirations to expand her line to eventually include pants, jackets, and accessories. She strives to continue to connect with young women from all cultures and corners of the world through her designs, and to empower women to be the best they can be.
“The world is my closet…it's full of colors and choices.”
